The New England Patriots are signing former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Ward to their practice squad. Pittsburgh cut Ward in June from the team, and now he has found a new squad.

Ward spent most of last season with the team on the practice squad, but was called up from the practice squad for four games as a special teamer.

Ward played in four games for the Steelers , mostly on special teams. He put up five rushes for 22 yards on the season, with much of his playing time coming when injuries racked up in the room.

Ward was signed by the Steelers after a rookie minicamp tryout. Known more for his speed and veteran presence, he had an impressive training camp despite suffering a hamstring injury, and that allowed him to make the practice squad.
