ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Urgent plans to help those devastated by Hurricane Melissa are coming from a faith-based group in Metro Atlanta.
The organization, called Send Relief, is based out of Alpharetta where they do their logistics and planning.
“The word catastrophic is being used a lot. I don’t think that’s hyperbole,” said Jason Cox, Vice President for International Ministries.
As Hurricane Melissa tears through Jamaica, Send Relief is already planning support and resources to the area.
Cox said it has been, “a lot of communication, managing texts and phone calls and conference calls, kind of all at the same time. Just make sure that we’re connecting with the right people.”
Send Relief works with a network of Southern Baptist churches around the world.
