Just northeast of Mobridge, S.D. , the Missouri River forms a boundary between the town and the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, governed by the Hunkpapa Lakota Sioux. In the days of George Armstong Custer, the Hunkpapa were the greatest Indian horsemen in North America. Consequently, the horse has always held a special place in the Mobridge economy.
