LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

It seems crowd control is a real priority on Louisville's popular Halloween street this year.

Hillcrest Avenue residents have been going all out for the holiday for decades.

This year, Halloween on Hillcrest has been rolling out changes as it grows in popularity, including having tickets and closing the street to traffic.

Neighbors say the event has gotten too large and unsafe, prompting some to even cut back on decorations.

On Wednesday, two days before Halloween, a post made to the street's Facebook page said while tickets are free, they will be capping them at 5,000.

They will be handed out that night and can not be obtained in advance.

There are typically thousands of visitors each year, but it's unclear whether they've ever had that many.
