When Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt’s daughter Lyla , 5, recently fell off a horse, the accident sparked a vivid childhood memory for the mom and became a pivotal teachable moment for her eldest child.

"She was really upset about it,” the author and podcast host, 35, who shares two other kids with her husband, actor Chris Pratt , 46, tells PEOPLE in this week's issue, on newsstands Friday. "It was scary for her, but we got her back on.”
