No. 2 seed Leylah Fernandez of Canada cruised into the Hong Kong Tennis Open quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Germany's Eva Lys on Wednesday.

Fernandez only faced one break point in the 68-minute match and advanced to face No. 7 Sorana Cirstea of Romania, who rallied for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win against Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic.

Spain's Cristina Bucsa knocked out No. 8 seed Emiliana Arango of Colombia 6-2, 6-4 and Australia's Maya Joint also moved into the final eight with a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of Slovakia's Viktoria Morvayova.
