The Left government in Kerala, led by CPI(M), has decided to pause the implementation of the PM SHRI scheme following objections from coalition partner CPI. The decision, announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, comes amid concerns over alleged RSS influence in education policies.

A seven-member Cabinet sub-committee, chaired by General Education Minister V Sivankutty, has been formed to reassess the scheme. The initial MoU with New Delhi aimed at securing central funds, but CPI viewed it as a deviation from the LDF's stance, thus signaling intra-front tensions.
