WASHINGTON — Dictionary.com announced its 2025 Word of the Year, and it may sound familiar to parents of school-aged children.
The online dictionary revealed on Tuesday that its Word of the Year is "6-7." The popular phrase is generally used by Gen Alpha and has puzzled parents, teachers and the rest of the internet in recent months.
Last year's word was demure, which was also propelled into the mainstream through social media.
What does 6 7 mean?
The term, which can be spelled "67" or "six-seven," is rather ambiguous in its meaning.
According to Dictionary.com, the slang could mean "so-so" or "maybe this, maybe that," especially when paired with a hand gesture where both palms face up and move up and down.
