Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday strongly criticized the Congress after a video surfaced showing a district-level party leader singing Amar Sonar Bangla—the national anthem of Bangladesh—during a Congress meeting in Sribhumi district.
Addressing reporters, Sarma said, “The performance of Bangladesh’s national anthem instead of India’s national anthem in Sribhumi district is an act of grave disrespect to the nation and its people. Such behaviour amounts to an anti-national activity and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances.”
He further stated, “The incident aligns with recent claims made by certain Bangladeshi organisations, which is a matter of serious concern. I have directed the Assam Police to register a case against the District Congress Committee of Sribhu
