A pair of national restaurant chains traded barbs on social media Tuesday that involved one brand mocking the other while it’s undergoing bankruptcy proceedings.
The exchange began on X -- formerly known as Twitter -- when the branded Chili’s account asked if customers had seen other restaurant chains offering a trio of appetizers as a special. The branded TGI Fridays account replied a short time later, saying "@ us next time," hinting that the Chili’s post was directed at the company.
Chili’s responded with "like this if you thought TGI Fridays was closed.“ The two sides would trade a couple more messages before the exchange ended.
