Starz has canceled its drama series BMF , ending the show after four seasons.

News of the cancellation comes about 2 1/2 months after BMF’ s fourth and now final season concluded in mid-August. The show, from Curtis “ 50 Cent ” Jackson’s G-Unit Film and Television and Lionsgate TV, chronicled the rise of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry Flenory, brothers who became leaders of Detroit’s Black Mafia Family (hence the show’s title) in the 1980s and ‘90s.

The writing may have been on the wall for the series, however, as Starz president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch noted season four’s “underperformance” in a quarterly earnings call a day before the finale (Starz generally keeps its cross-platform viewing data private).
