GARDNER, Wis. (WFRV) - A massive wildfire in Door County burned roughly 65 acres Tuesday afternoon, drawing nearly 150 firefighters from four counties.

According to Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Chief Jim Wautier, the blaze began around 3 p.m. in the Town of Gardner near County Highway C between Fox Lane and Gravel Pit Road. The fire reportedly started when an ATV caught fire in a grassy area filled with dead marsh grass standing five to six feet tall.

Breezy conditions quickly spread the flames, causing the fire to cross County Highway C. Nineteen fire departments from Door, Kewaunee, Brown, and Manitowoc counties responded, using more than 30,000 gallons of water from a nearby pond to contain the blaze.
