CHARLESTON — After a recent reassessment plummeted the value of the shuttered Dockside property by 80 percent, the homeowners association president has asked city officials for guidance on what can be built in place of Charleston’s tallest building in hopes of getting top dollar from perspective buyers.
“Exactly eight months ago today, the city issued an evacuation of 134 households at Dockside with two days notice, “ said Anne Summer, chair of the Dockside Association board, during a City Council meeting Oct. 28. “This was a financial setback for many and financial ruin for others. In August, co-owners voted overwhelmingly not to repair the tower, which allows us to market the property for sale, but we can't do that without guidance from the city of what will be allowed to replace it.”
