E-ZPass customers enrolled in a commuter plan for five Hudson River bridges may have been overcharged, the New York State Bridge Authority said.
The authority said a billing error affected some 8,000 accounts of New York and New Jersey E-ZPass customers who pay a reduced toll of $1.40 for at least 17 trips a month over the five bridges.
Customers erroneously charged during a two-day period, Oct. 9 and 10, will receive refunds, the authority said. The charges were generated by an outside vendor who runs its billing system.
Customers with billing issues are encouraged to call the E-ZPass Customer Service Center at 800-333-8655.
The Bridge Authority operates the Bear Mountain, Newburgh-Beacon, Mid-Hudson, Kingston-Rhinecliff and Rip Van Winkle bridges.
