For the second time this season, two athletes produced equally strong performances, both worthy of Athlete of the Week.

Last Wednesday was the biggest day of the year for cross country runners in Yuma County, as participants from all six YUHSD schools came together at West Wetlands for the annual district championships.

When the dust settled, two seniors were left standing atop the podiums, both dominating their respective races.

On the girls' side, it was Kofa senior Sabrina Anaya, who won her long-awaited first individual district title with a time of 19:42. For her entire varsity career, Anaya has placed in the top three at districts, finishing in second as a freshman in 2022 and as a junior in 2024. She was third as a junior in 2023.
