A Massachusetts state employee has been arrested on drug and weapons charges, officials said Wednesday.

LaMar Cook, 45, of Springfield, was arrested Tuesday night after approximately eight kilograms of cocaine were delivered to the Springfield State Office Building, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said in a news release.

Cook was charged with trafficking 200 grams or more of cocaine, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition following a multi-agency investigation led by the Massachusetts State Police Commonwealth Interstate Narcotics Reduction Enforcement Team and state police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office.
