A food bank in Moosomin is reeling from a massive early-morning donation of eggs.
Around 9 a.m. CST on Tuesday, the Southeast Health Ability Society, otherwise known as the Moosomin Food Share, received more than 25,000 cartons of eggs.
“We have amazing, amazing volunteers that have been here since 9 a.m. and have been unloading the trailer, directing traffic, hauling boxes to vehicles,” said Samantha Campbell, manager of the Food Share in Moosomin, about 210 kilometres east of Regina.
“It takes a village.”
The donation came from Second Harvest, a food rescue organization. Second Harvest received the eggs from Egg Farmers of Canada, the industry body managing egg production across various grading facilities in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. WATCH | Canadian food banks
