Two popular candy bars have been recalled by the manufacturer just before Halloween for potential allergen contamination.
On Oct. 27, Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory announced the recall of the bars after a mix-up in the production line, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the FDA notice, Peanut Butter Crush Bars containing cashews and Cashew Cow Bars containing peanuts were distributed in packaging that didn’t reveal the presence of these ingredients.
A subsequent investigation indicated that the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes. Steps have been taken to ensure this problem has been resolved, the FDA said.
The bars were distributed in retail stores in Michigan and New York.
