Providence may sell Camp Cronin to either the Town of Narragansett or the state Department of Environmental Management, Mayor Brett Smiley said in an Oct. 29 appearance on WPRO talk radio.

The seaside camp in Narragansett, which the City of Providence has owned since World War II, has sat empty for roughly a decade. Under former mayor Jorge Elorza's administration, the city began refurbishing the buildings, but in an era of strained city finances , pressure to sell the 2-acre property has intensified.
