Small fire extinguished at Echo Park school

Echo Park— Crews extinguished a small fire that prompted the partial evacuation of a school this morning, according to the L.A. Fire Department.

The fire in a bathroom at the Camino Nuevo Charter Academy-Sandra-Cisneros in the 1000 block of Mohawk Street was reported shortly before 10:30 am.

There was moderate smoke on the first floor of the split-level building, and all students were evacuated from the first floor, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Crews remain at the scene ventilating the school to remove the smoke.

There were no reports of injuries.
