WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) - Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, November SNAP benefits may be delayed, impacting over 14,000 recipients in Jefferson County.

SNAP households will be notified by November 1st regarding the status of their November benefits. Updates will be available on otda.ny.gov, mybenefits.ny.gov, ebtEDGE, and through text messages.

Applications for SNAP will continue to be accepted at Jefferson County DSS. However, households approved after November 1 may not receive benefits until the shutdown ends. SNAP households are advised to continue fulfilling all program requirements, such as recertifications and reporting changes, to avoid further delays in receiving benefits once the shutdown concludes.
