He might be out of office, but a former top official in the Biden administration remains prominent in the minds of Democratic primary voters.

As they think about the 2028 race for the White House, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg leads the pack in a University of New Hampshire poll out this week.

He finished ahead of California Gov. Gavin Newsom and U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y.

Buttigieg, a former presidential candidate and the one-time mayor of South Bend, Ind., took 19% of the vote in a hypothetical, head-to-head matchup.
