The Detroit Lions have locked up another one of their core players for the long term.
The team and Pro Bowl edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson have agreed to a contract extension that will keep Hutchinson in Detroit through the 2030 season.
Hutchinson was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the Lions and has been one of the best edge rushers in the NFL ever since. His 34.0 sacks are the most in franchise history over a player's first four seasons.
He currently leads the NFL in total pressures generated (48), most quarterback hurries (33) and is tied for the league lead in forced fumbles (4). Hutchinson has the third-highest pass-rush win percentage (25.2) and fourth-highest pressure percentage (19.2) among the league's pass rushers this season. His 6.0 sacks currently rank seven
