As autumn brings color-changing trees and falling leaves, a dangerous little critter could crash your leaf-peeping adventures.

Ticks are a common parasite that are so small, we often miss them.

Heather Nies, the Kennels Manager at Erie Humane Society, explained measures we can take to keep our pets safe from ticks.

Nies said, "Ticks this year are really, really bad, so we highly encourage everybody to check their dogs, and their cats if they're cats are outside. Put them on a preventative, flea and tick preventative. They can still have ticks crawling on them, they'll bite them, and then they'll instantly die from the preventative that they will be on."
