HARRISVILLE, New York (WWNY) - A convicted child rapist in Lewis County is accused of illegally using an alias on a social networking app.
The sheriff’s office charged 33-year-old Joseph Clement II of Harrisville with sex offender registry violation, second offense, a felony.
Officials alleged Clement was using the app “Meetme” under an alias that was not listed on his registry.
“Meetme” is described as an app that helps users find people nearby who share their interests and want to chat.
According to the New York State Sex Offender Registry, Clement was convicted in 2014 of raping a 12-year-old girl.
He has previously been convicted of violating the registry’s rules.
Clement was arraigned in Denmark Town CAP Court and is being held without bail in the county jail.
