Niagara Military Museum has been granted a reprieve by the City of Niagara Falls.
Volunteers and user groups feared the downtown museum was on the chopping block as the provincial government has called on municipalities to examine their non-core assets to determine long-term viability.
Those fears were bolstered by a report to council in which staff recommended providing the museum with a one-year lease extension when the current agreement ends in April 2026.
In a presentation to city council on Tuesday, museum president Jim Doherty said the board wants to secure a 25-year lease term renewable every five years based on performance, commitment and results.
