BRAINERD — Chilly fall nights are the perfect time to curl up with a good thriller.

With a sinister title; ominous cover featuring a smashed, bloodied VHS tape; and a story to match, this novel is just the right amount of dark and twisty. Rose does a great job of dropping subtle clues throughout, allowing readers to unravel the mysteries themselves while still being left with a couple jaw-dropping surprises right at the end.
“Home is Where the Bodies Are” is a quick read that packs a punch and was rather difficult for me to put down. And as an added bonus for me, the book is set in my home state of Wisconsin with a brief mention of Wausau, right near where I grew up.
