MAINE, USA — Joseph Eaton, the 36-year-old man serving a life sentence for killing his parents and two family friends in Bowdoin , has died, according to correctional officials in Maine and Massachusetts.
The Maine Department of Corrections said Eaton, who was serving his sentence under the Interstate Corrections Compact, died early Tuesday morning while housed at the Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts.
Staff at the facility responded to a medical emergency and began life-saving measures before calling 911, according to the Massachusetts Department of Corrections. First responders continued resuscitation efforts, but he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
