Rural areas see sharp increases

Joe Purl, director of the Wright City Community Food Bank, said most clients work but struggle in rural areas to make ends meet.

“We’re seeing a lot of increase,” Purl said. “But a lot of challenges that come their way, whether it be medical challenges, housing challenges. There’s a lot of that in the rural area.”
