The family and people in the community want answers after a 6-year-old boy was killed in a hit-and-run in City Heights over the weekend.

The child, identified by family members as Lucas Chery Louis, was struck by a car while crossing University Avenue near Northgate Market with an adult just before 7 p.m. Saturday, according to investigators. When first responders arrived, they performed CPR and transported Lucas to Rady Children's Hospital, where they say he died.

San Diego police say the car left the scene before officers arrived.
