PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland police and fire officials are asking for the public's help identifying a person who was in the area shortly before a suspicious fire damaged property at City Councilor Candace Avalos ' Mill Park neighborhood residence.
The Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue released surveillance video Wednesday showing a person near the area before the fire, which occurred in the early morning hours of Oct. 26. Investigators say they want to speak with the person because they may have information about how the fire began.
"At this time, this person is not considered a suspect," police said in a statement. "Investigators simply hope to learn more about what they might have seen or heard in the area."
Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the fire at 2:40 a.m.
