A Tennessee man is facing multiple felony charges after police say he emerged from his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom closet with an AR-style rifle while she, her current boyfriend, and her five-year-old child were asleep.

The incident occurred Saturday night in Memphis .

According to local Action 5 news , the victims were awakened by Corwyn Winfield emerging from the closet. Winfield allegedly pointed the rifle at them, threatened to kill them, and told them not to move.

A struggle over the weapon ensued when the current boyfriend attempted to leave. During the fight, the rifle was discharged several times. Police say Winfield was shot in the arm, but not seriously hurt. A stray bullet traveled through a wall into an adjacent room where other kids were sleeping.
