OXFORD Miss. — As Vice President J.D. Vance appeared at a Turning Point USA event on campus in Oxford on Wednesday, others with different points of view met to voice their concerns.
The town-hall format meeting, called Mississippi Rise Up was held in the Student Union, not far from the TPUSA event. It was sponsored by the Young College Democrats organization, and drew a diverse crowd of about 200.
Professors and politicians spoke, answered a variety of questions, and expressed their opinions on where the country was headed.
Tennessee Rep. Gloria Johnson was one of those who spoke.
