The last player to carry the trophy off the field was running back Malik Sherrod and it followed the game of his career. Back in 2023, he had 255 all-purpose yards against the Broncos, including a 95-yard kick return for a touchdown.

When interim head coach Tim Skipper wasn't retained, Sherrod traded his Fresno red for Boise blue but he's not the first to switch sides. Back in 2021, linebacker Tyson Maeva, a former Bronco team captain, was brought to the Valley by Kalen DeBoer.
