New Delhi: Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin is set to inducted into the Telangana Cabinet on October 31, 2025. The decision comes amid an intense campaign for the Jubilee Hills Assembly by-election, scheduled for November 11.

The induction of Azharuddin is seen as a calculated step by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to consolidate Muslim support in the high profile constituency that has a large concentration of minority voters. The bypoll also also holds symbolic importance for the ruling Congress as it aims to retain its recent electoral momentum against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
