TAMPA, Fla. – Five Florida men were sentenced to life without parole on Wednesday for the 2021 drive-by shooting death of 4-year-old Suni Bell .

The defendants—Andrew Thompson, 26, James Denson, 28, Jaylin Bedward, 26, Quandarious Hammond, 32, and Zvante Sampson, 34—were convicted in September on multiple counts, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Circuit Judge Robin Fuson handed down the sentence, telling the men, “You don’t get to do what you do and what you did and walk amongst us… this is what you earned. Nobody put you in prison, you put yourselves there.”

The violent incident occurred on August 22, 2021, when the five men pursued a car carrying Suni, her mother, and her uncle on Hillsborough Avenue in Tampa.
