PITTSBURG, Kan. (KSNW) - The Kansas Bureau of Investigation broke ground on its new $42 million facility in Pittsburg.
The Regional Crime Center and Laboratory will be located on the campus of Pittsburgh State University.
Pittsburg City Manager Daron Hall says the facility will not only help students get jobs after they graduate but it will also help the Pittsburg community.
"Now we'll have that resource down here so you can actually come and stay in this area of the country, stay in this area of the state, get trained on law enforcement, but you also get to collaborate with the KBI, with Pitt State, with the county sheriff's office, with the city of Pittsburg," Hall said.
The facility is expected to be completed by Spring 2027.
