As the government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits are set to end, some pet owners are faced with an impossible situation.
Amy Creel, the president of Knine Rescue in Montgomery County, told News4 that just on Wednesday, they received six or seven calls asking for help due to the government shutdown.

"If you are having to prioritize the basics, for some people, they're starting to look at their dog, and say 'I don't know if I can afford this,’” Creel said. “And they're devastated. They don't want to be in this situation. They don't want to surrender, but they're not sure what else to do."
