US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that the United States will immediately resume nuclear weapons testing, ending a voluntary moratorium that has been in place since 1992. He said it was a necessary step to keep pace with Russia and China’s nuclear capabilities.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump said, "The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country. This was accomplished, including a complete update and renovation of existing weapons, during my First Term in office.
