For nearly 27 years, a Sharpsburg family has lived with something they cannot explain, a quiet, enduring presence that seems to share their home just out of view.
When Karen Eskins and her husband moved into their newly built house off Willis Road in 1998, they expected the usual joys and challenges of raising a family.
What they did not anticipate was the sense that another world might exist alongside their own, close enough to brush up against but not quite visible.
The first sign arrived only weeks after moving in. Eskins was on the back deck with her two young daughters when her youngest, not yet 2 years old, hopped off the swing and walked toward the corner of the deck, staring into the woods.
