RAVENNA — Eighty minutes wasn’t enough for Cardinal Mooney and Chagrin Falls, finishing regulation tied. Another 30 minutes wasn’t enough either.
When the dust settled, it was the Tigers left standing, winning 5-4, in the sixth round of penalty kicks.
“Unfortunately, in any game there’s a winner and a loser, but I told the boys that we could be more proud of the effort they put in,” Cardinals coach Matthew Britton said. “We said before the game, ‘You’ve just got to leave everything on the line, leave it on the field’ and they did that. Congratulations to them. That’s a very good Chagrin Falls team. I wish them all the best going forward.”
Owen Edwards got Chagrin Falls on the board quickly, scoring just under three minutes into the game.
