COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Ohio Redistricting Commission is set to hold another meeting late Thursday afternoon, the day before the panel’s constitutional deadline hits to pass a bipartisan congressional redistricting plan.
The meeting announcement came Wednesday as some legislative leaders on both sides of the aisle said they’re closer to reaching some sort of agreement to redraw Ohio’s 15 U.S. House districts for the next six years.
But it’s still an open question whether Thursday’s meeting will be to announce a deal or simply fulfill the panel’s bare minimum obligations under the Ohio Constitution to hold two meetings before Nov. 1, when GOP lawmakers can pass a new map without needing any Democratic votes.
