Major Tragedy in UP: Boat capsizes in river, several missing including children

Bahraich (Uttar Pradesh), October 30, 2025: A major accident occurred in Bahraich district when a boat carrying 22 villagers capsized in the Kaudiyala River in the Trans-Girwa area of Katarniaghat late Wednesday evening.

According to reports, the villagers from Bharathapur were returning from Khairatiya market after shopping when the boat overturned mid-river. Out of the 22 passengers, 13 managed to swim to safety, while one woman’s body has been recovered.

Eight people, including five children, are still missing. Another woman was found seriously injured after getting trapped in the riverbank bushes.
