Kolkata: The deadline for filing income tax returns (ITRs) and audit reports for the assessment year 2025-26 has been extended by The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), providing major relief to income tax professionals. The new deadlines for submitting audit reports and ITR are November 10 and December 10 respectively. Incidentally, the deadlines for individual ITR is different from these ones since the accounts of individuals don’t need to be audited.
It must be remembered that before CBDT announced this extension, taxpayers whose accounts have to be audited faced a deadline of October 31, 2025, to file their income tax returns (ITR) for the financial year 2024-25 (assessment year 2025-26). These are usually companies, proprietorships and working partners in business firms.
