A lawsuit accusing a Mesa youth group home of negligence after a 14-year-old girl ran away and later was found dismembered is now making its way through the court system.
Responding last week to the lawsuit, Sacred Journey denied Jensen Pike’s claim that it failed to care for his daughter, Emily Pike.
Emily Pike, 14, was found slain weeks after she ran away from a Mesa group home. Her father, Jensen Pike, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the facility.
Her dismembered remains were found on Valentine’s Day in two trash bags along US 60, north of Globe in Gila County – not far from her family’s home on the San Carlos Apache reservation.
