In order to detect surface cracks and potholes on more than 20,000 kilometers of National Highways, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will install advanced sensors and data collection systems throughout 23 states. The effort seeks to increase the general safety and effectiveness of India’s road network while also improving commuters’ riding experiences.

An official statement claims that the information gathered will assist in keeping an up-to-date inventory of roads and evaluating surface conditions, allowing evidence-based decisions on asset management, infrastructure planning, and maintenance.
