NewJeans, the K-pop group, has lost a court battle in South Korea to leave its record label.

The group's contract with the label, ADOR, is valid until 2029, the court ruling stated.

NewJeans will appeal the ruling, according to reports in South Korea, and stated it would be "impossible to return to ADOR."

In a statement, ADOR said: "We sincerely hope that today’s result, where various claims and factual relationships have been verified over a long period and a ruling with the same intent has been made once again, will serve as an opportunity for the artists to calmly reflect on this matter."

The statement added: "We deeply appreciate the court’s decision."
