SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Agencies that provide food to people in need are already seeing longer lines and expect that demand to grow once SNAP benefits run out.
United Way Ozarks Region funds several programs that serve clients with food needs such as Crosslines and Ozarks Food Harvest.
United Way Ozarks Region President and CEO Brandi VanAntwerp said there’s an urgent need because of the loss of SNAP benefits and government workers who are furloughed or working without pay.
She said food affects a person’s mood, mental health, and their ability to learn and work.
She said some people may be wondering how they can help.
