DETROIT - United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain is scheduled to hold a live, virtual town hall next week, an event announced one day before General Motors Co. and its joint-venture partner Ultium Cells announced planned job reductions at the electric vehicle battery plants in Lordstown and Spring Hill, Tennessee.
The UAW International Union posted the town hall information on its social media accounts late Monday, setting the event for Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m. ET on UAW Facebook, X, and YouTube. The union stated Fain would be “answering member questions and outlining the union's fight to end plant closures, win a first contract at Volkswagen, and more.”
