EDGAR – For the first time in more than a year, the Wildcats had their backs against the wall – desperately holding on to a narrow 14-8 lead to avoid the bitter taste of first round defeat.
After maintaining control for most of the game, Loyal/Greenwood had possession, and methodically drove the ball down the field as precious minutes ticked away.
The Loyal/Greenwood sideline foresaw victory. The Edgar sideline grew anxious.
But the Wildcats never wavered.
Senior Alex Schneider made up for an offsides call that happened a few moments before that, which further helped Loyal/Greenwood’s would-be game-winning drive, by recovering a Colten Sandelier fumble with nearly three minutes remaining, ending what looked like one of the Greyhounds most promising drives of the day.
